Man Utd target Erling Braut Haaland sends message to dad after goal against Liverpool

Erling Braut Haaland said he can now tell his dad he scored at Anfield after years of his father reminding him of doing the same.

The Norwegian wonderkid came off the bench in Red Bull Salzburg's dramatic 4-3 defeat by Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.

He found the back of the net with his very first touch, a tap-in from close range, but couldn't inspire victory against the European Champions.

Haaland is the son of Alf-Inge, who represented Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Leeds during a 10-year spell playing in England.

He also, as Haaland is regularly reminded, scored at Anfield.

After Wednesday night's Group E game, Haaland told the press: "Now I have the same number of goals here.

"He's always telling me 'I scored at Anfield, I scored at Anfield!' Now I can say it back to him: 'So have I'."

Haaland emerged as a Manchester United transfer target after scoring back-to-back hat-tricks in the Austrian league and Champions League.

He made it 15 for the season in all competitions against the Reds, having made just 12 appearances this campaign.
