Man Utd target Declan Rice was given the fright of his life on his 21st birthday after the England midfielder was hilariously pranked by team-mate Jack Wilshere .
The West Ham midfielder became a viral sensation in the summer because his reaction to being woken up by best mate and Chelsea star Mason Mount while on holiday and the midfielder produced another amusing response to being tricked by Wilshere.
In a clip uploaded to the former Arsenal man's Instagram account, Wilshere can be seen climbing into a tumble dryer at West Ham's Rush Green training ground before hiding in wait for Rice.
As the England international passes through, Wilshere can be seen throwing open the door which leads to Rice jumping in fright and letting out a high-pitched scream.
The clip appeared to entertain plenty online, with even West Ham's official Instagram account replying to the post with laughing emojis.
The prank came to light just a day after it emerged Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had sent personal scouts to watch Rice in action at Sheffield United last Friday.
The Daily Mail report that the Norwegian had the Englishman watched by Simon Wells, a close ally, in order to weigh up a potential move for the 21-year-old in the summer.
The midfielder has started to return to his best form under new manager David Moyes and remains a target for Utd, who have held an interest in the West Ham youngster for some time.
While Wells was present to watch Rice on the pitch, it was his comments about VAR after the 1-0 loss at the Blades that made headlines across the weekend.
Robert Snodgrass had what would have been a late equaliser ruled out for offside after VAR was consulted and Rice left no one uncertain about how he felt.
"Nobody wants to have VAR in the game. They're celebrating it like it's a goal," he told Sky Sports.
"There have been so many decisions this season that have been absolutely crazy. They were celebrating VAR like it was a goal and football should not be like that.
"We are not too happy but it is in the game now and we have to get on with it."
