Man Utd target Daniel James 'drops transfer hint' by deleting Mohamed Salah tweet

Manchester United transfer target Daniel James has got Red Devils supporters excited with his latest social media activity.

The 21-year-old Swansea City winger has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks after an impressive season in the Championship.

Some reports claim the Red Devils are very close to completing a £15million deal for the Welshman, and a number of United fans have started following him on his various social media platforms.

One fan came across a tweet posted by James last season, when Liverpool were playing Roma in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Mohamed Salah netted twice in the Reds' 5-2 victory over the Italian giants in the first leg, prompting a young James to take to Twitter.

The Swansea City winger wrote: "Salah is some player," alongside the fire emoji.

For more than a year the tweet lay dormant until the aforementioned one Man United fan came across it and brought attention to it.

"You better delete this if you join bro," wrote the fan, in response to it on social media.

And incredibly enough, James deleted the social media post from a year ago, although it cannot be confirmed whether the 21-year-old did so in direct response to the message.

That said, some Manchester United supporters have seen this as a sign the winger is keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Red Devils have been linked with a number of players ahead of the summer transfer window, including Jadon Sancho and Harry Maguire.

The Norwegian was asked about transfer rumours on Friday. He said: "I don't know how many names have been mentioned since I've come in.

"There are players I've barely seen that I've read we are going to sign. There's loads of speculation.

"I can't comment on every single individual. Many players, as I've said. I don't like when other managers talk about my players and I wouldn't talk about others, even if I wasn't or if I was interested."
