Man Utd summer transfer shortlist: Four stars Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants for next step

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seeking four new recruits at Manchester United this summer after securing Champions League football.

The Red Devils beat Leicester to claim third place on the Premier League's final day and attention now turns to making sure they are prepared to improve again next term.

United have shown in glimpses that they are capable of bothering the elite with several wins over Manchester City and a draw against Liverpool.

Shrewd recruitment over the past 12 months has helped with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Aaron Wan Bissaka adding quality in attack and defence.

But Solskjaer will know their squad still needs reinforcements if they are to return to the success of yesteryear.

And the Norwegian has identified four players in key positions who he wants to add.

Jadon Sancho

The Borussia Dortmund star has long been a target for United following several successful years in Germany.

Sancho quit City in search of more game time and has since thrived with the winger perfectly fitting United's transfer policy given he is young and homegrown.

Dortmund want £100m for Sancho but United are only prepared to pay £80m meaning a compromise still needs to be reached.

Kalidou Koulibaly

United spent big on Harry Maguire last summer and may again part with big money for a central defender.

The Napoli ace could finally be on the move in the coming months following years of speculation.

Koulibaly is renowned as one of the game's finest defenders and is at his peak at 29 years of age.

The Serie A club want around £70m for the Senegalese international who has spent six years in Naples.

Jack Grealish

The boyhood Aston Villa fan was crucial in helping his side retain their Premier League status but could now be on the move.

Grealish is yet to receive international recognition but is highly rated and scored an excellent goal at Old Trafford earlier this season.

His creative flair would be welcomed at United but Villa want around £60m for their star man - a fee the Red Devils are willing to pay.

Grealish set a top flight record for being the most fouled player in a season.

Declan Rice

The West Ham star was linked with a switch to Old Trafford last season but remained at the London Stadium.

Rice is the Hammers' prized asset and has been a rare bright light in a difficult season.

The Englishman is capable of playing in midfield as well as defence further increasing his appeal.

West Ham want around £50m for the 21-year-old who United may see as an alternative to Jude Bellingham.
