Manchester United have not included Paul Pogba in their formal offer to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, according to widespread reports.
The Red Devils are making rapid progress as they look to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford for a second spell with the club.
Sir Alex Ferguson held talks with the 36-year-old on Friday morning and Manchester City - who had been leading the transfer race - ruled out a move for the Portugal superstar later that day.
United's owners, the Glazers, subsequently sanctioned a move for Ronaldo worth an initial €15million (£13m) plus €8m (£7m) in add-ons and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be reunited with his former teammate shortly.

Pogba, 28, has been linked with a move back to Juventus throughout the summer as he has entered the final year of his contract.
But the Frenchman has not been included in United's offer for Ronaldo, meaning the two superstars may be lining up together this season.
Five-time Ballon d'Or-winner Ronaldo is believed to be undergoing a medical in Lisbon ahead of completing his transfer to United.
Juventus are already making plans to replace their talismanic striker and could target Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard, according to Spanish outlet Marca .
Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was quizzed on Ronaldo relentlessly during his press conference on Friday ahead of United's Premier League trip to Wolves.
The Norwegian emphasised Ronaldo's legendary status at United as he seemed to open the door to a reunion at Old Trafford.
"I didn't think Cristiano was gonna turn out leaving Juventus," said Solskjaer. "And it's been speculation this morning and the last few days.
We've always had good communication. I know Bruno's been talking to him as well and he knows what we feel about him.

"I was fortunate enough to play with him, I coached him (in 2008) when I got my job. He almost retired me in that Wolverhampton game (in 2003) when I got injured because he kept switching sides!
"Such a tremendous human being, as well. Let's see what happens with Cristiano. Everyone who's played with him has a soft spot for him."
