Man Utd stick to asking price for Paul Pogba to complete January Real Madrid transfer

Manchester United won't budge from their asking price for Paul Pogba in January, according to Spanish publication Sport.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane remains determined to bring the French World Cup winner to the Santiago Bernabeu, and was left frustrated in his attempts at luring the former Juventus midfielder to the club in the summer.

With the transfer window in Spain now closed, Real are going to have to wait until at least January in order to snap up their long-term target, but United are said to be stepping up their attempts at keeping the wantaway star at the club.

Pogba's current United deal runs until 2021, but the Old Trafford outfit's first priority is to keep him at the club and potentially extend his deal in order to warn off his suitors, which also included his former club Juventus in the summer.

United will be aware that the situation could become toxic though, especially with Pogba's agent Mino Raiola determined to get what his client wants.

The Sport report claims that although Zidane's position as Real boss is looking less than secure following a disappointing start to the season, both he and the club remain determined to sign Pogba and will go again for him in the January window.

United's stance remains the same though, and they won't indulge in any business with the Madrid giants in the New Year unless their valuation of £179million is met.

Real president Florentino Perez has defended the club's failure to sign Pogba in the summer by insisting that he is happy with the squad Zidane has at his disposal, telling Marca :

"We have never invested so much in players even though we already had a great squad."
