Man Utd stars ‘plan to work on’ Harry Kane at Euro 2020 to help secure £120m transfer

With Euro 2020 looming on the horizon, Harry Kane’s future remains undecided.

He has intimated that he wants to leave Tottenham this summer, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea among his mooted destinations.

Valued at upwards of £120m, Kane has relatively few options given the finances involved.

Speaking to Gary Neville for an episode of The Overlap podcast earlier this week, Kane admitted that he wants a meeting with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to discuss the next step in his career.

“There’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club,” he said.

“It’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman.

“As players you don’t know what the chairman is thinking. He might want to sell me. He might be thinking: ‘If I could get £100m then why not?’ I’m not going to be worth that for the next two or three years.”

While Kane reportedly wants his future to be decided before the Euros, that seems increasingly unlikely. When he links up with England ahead of the tournament, there may still be uncertainty over where he is going to play his football next season.

According to The Sun, England’s Manchester United contingent are hoping to influence his decision. Assuming that Harry Maguire gets fit in time for the tournament, he, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford are near-certain to join Kane in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad.

Kane’s desire to move clubs this summer has been a topic of conversation in the Old Trafford dressing room, with a source saying: “All the players have been discussing Harry leaving Spurs… the English players plan to work on him when they meet up.”

The United stars who play with Kane at international level are reportedly “excited” at the prospect of the club securing his signature. Despite the competition that Kane would bring up front, Edinson Cavani is also an admirer.

Asked about Kane earlier this week, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was noncommittal. “I can’t talk about players at other teams,” he said.

“You know me well enough, I don’t think that’s very respectful of any team. There are loads of good players out there – I could say [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo are interesting, but I can’t talk about them, you know that.”
