Manchester United stars broke Sir Alex Ferguson's golden rule in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
That's according to former Red Devils striker Robin van Persie, who voiced his disappointment in United following their latest defeat.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were beaten 2-1 by Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night, just a few days after they lost at home to Arsenal.
Van Persie wasn't disappointed so much that United lost, but the manner of the defeat had the Dutchman seething.
Explaining why the performance wouldn't have occurred under Ferguson, Van Persie told BT Sport: "They missed the urgency to commit.
"In my time at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson said: 'I don't mind losing as long as my team is not running less than the opponent and I want to see commitment going forward and as well defensively'.
"I'm pretty sure Basaksehir ran more than Manchester United.
"That should never be the case in any game. That has nothing to do with quality or abilities. That's extra. You need to commit, to be there with 100 per cent focus."
Solskjaer is under growing pressure to turn things around or lose his job, with former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino waiting in the wings.
