Man Utd stars arrive for training after close coronavirus scare

Man Utd players arrived for training on Wednesday less than 24 hours after avoiding a close coronavirus scare.

United were due to play a friendly at their Carrington training centre on Tuesday, but were forced to abort the fixture at the last minute after visiting Stoke boss Michael O'Neill tested positive for Covid-19.

O'Neill did not come into contact with any United players, who underwent a training session immediately after Stoke had left the grounds.

It's been a case of business as usual since for United, who were back at the facility the following morning.

The incident has seemingly not concerned many of the United players though, with defender Eric Bailly the only star to be wearing a mask on arrival.

United took the decision to play an in-house match between their own players after Stoke had departed, which suggests Wednesday's session may have been a lighter workout.

Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba were on opposing sides, and Luke Shaw gave an insight into how the fixture panned out, making sure to mention his two goals.

He said: "There have been a lot of different things circulating on social media and I'm happy to set the record straight.

"It did end 4-4 and I did score twice! Also on my team, Bruno [Fernandes] got one and Jamo [Daniel James] got one, while, on the other team, Rashy [Marcus Rashford] got two and so did Odion [Ighalo].

"It was quite an open game, as you can probably gather, with a lot of space, since it was the first game back.

"Everyone looked good and the most important thing was getting minutes in the tank. This was definitely a step forward from the games we've been having at the training ground."

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to ramp up preparations further over the next week ahead of his side's return to action against Tottenham on June 19.
