Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is set for showdown talks with the club regarding his future.
Tuanzebe enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aston Villa last season as they earned promotion to the Premier League.
The West Midlands club want to keep him at Villa Park but Tuanzebe is reportedly keen to try and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
According to The Sun , the Englishman will now hold talks in the next fortnight with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to determine the part he can expect to play if he stays put.
Solskjaer is believed to be keen to give Tuanzebe a chance as he aims to promote youth in his side, with the pair set to sit down to discuss the situation at Carrington before the club fly out for pre-season on July 8.
An Old Trafford source told The Sun: “Axel had a few injury issues at Villa but there is no doubt he is a top prospect.
“The manager will be happy to sit down and let him know where he stands at some point in the near future.
"The fact is the club are heading in a new direction with a greater emphasis on young players, so Axel could be in with a good shot."
Whilst United are not looking to sell Tuanzebe, they could be tempted to send him out on loan again, particularly given Villa's promotion would give him Premier League experience.
He is in the final year of his contract but the club will trigger a 12-month extension clause in their favour to extend his deal.
Tuanzebe is looking to prove his worth at Old Trafford and knows he needs a big pre-season to impress Solskjaer.
