Angel Gomes says Marcus Rashford is his mentor at Manchester United and someone he looks up to as a role model.
The 18-year-old is one of the Red Devils' hottest youth prospects and featured twice from the bench last season.
Reports emerged recently that the teenager is a transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain, amid claims he was upset by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Manchester United boss allegedly suggested that Gomes, who is desperate for more first team chances, wasn't quite ready for the physical demands of the Premier League.
Gomes is reported to have referenced Lionel Messi as an example of a smaller player who has succeed on the biggest stage.
What Gomes' next step is remains to be seen, but one man who is helping him improve on the pitch is Marcus Rashford.
When asked to name his mentor in an interview with SoccerBible, the teenager said: "Marcus Rashford I'd say. I was in digs with him since U12 level through to U16 and a little bit of U18s.
"We grew up together and he's gone on to be such a big part of the first team. He's always been someone I've looked up to as a role model.
"He's two age groups above me so I would always see him around, and when we were in digs we'd watch videos of players and that sort of stuff.
"Seeing what he has achieved only makes me want to work harder. I've seen him go through the academy and into the first team and he’s done that by working extremely hard."
