Man Utd star Fred shows his cunning with unusual Premier League 5-a-side lineup

Brazil midfielder Fred was still able to sneak in a Manchester United teammate despite being asked to pick neither a club colleague or compatriot in an all-star Premier League 5-a-side selection.

The midfielder has enjoyed an impressive season at Old Trafford, making 39 appearances and providing two goals and four assists.

The 27-year-old has cemented himself in Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first XI in a much-improved second campaign.

But his fine progress was drawn to a halt by coronavirus suspending all matches in the United Kingdom.

Now, during an interview with Brazilian outlet Trivela, he was asked to name a 5-a-side team of Premier League stars - but he was not allowed to name any fellow Manchester United players or Brazilians.

However, he showed his cunning with his goalkeeper selection.

"It is difficult to choose a player that is not United or Brazilian," he said. "There are many Brazilians standing out in the Premier League. But come on: for goalkeeper, I would choose [Dean] Henderson, I think he is a great player."

Henderson is contracted at Manchester United but he is currently on-loan Sheffield United and the shot-stopper has shone for the Bramall Lane club this season.

In the deeper roles, Fred then choose Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and Chelsea holding midfielder N'Golo Kante. He added: "I would choose Alexander-Arnold, who has been doing a great season, is a good right back.

"Then in the middle, me or Kante would play. I really like Kante, I admire him, he's a guy who plays great football."

The Brazil international then chose a potent attacking duo of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and Spurs forward Son Heung-min.

"Up front, I think I would choose De Bruyne and Son, they are two great players that have been standing out," Fred explained.

"Son is another guy that I admire a lot."
