Man Utd star 'fears for his future' if Harry Maguire transfer is completed

Manchester United's proposed move for Harry Maguire has left one of their current players fearing for his Old Trafford future.

United have been linked with a move for the England international all summer long and have reportedly recently ramped up their efforts to sign the 26-year-old.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views the Leicester centre-back as his ideal rock at the back as he aims to shore up a defence that conceded 54 goals in last season's Premier League - the second most of any side in the top 10.

Maguire's arrival at Old Trafford would increase competition for places with United already having five senior centre-backs on their books.

And Metro report that the Red Devils' bid to add the former Hull man to their ranks this summer has left Eric Bailly feeling like he may be forced out of Old Trafford.

The Ivorian international joined the English giants from Villarreal in 2016 for a fee reported to be around £30m, but injuries and poor form have seen him make just 74 appearances in all competitions.

To further add to the 25-year-old's worries, boss Solskjaer recently labelled Axel Tuanzebe, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship, as the 'future' of United's defence.

Victor Lindelof appears to be a favourite of Solskjaer, while Chris Smalling also looks set to remain at Old Trafford, leaving Bailly to fear the worst.

It is thought the former Espanyol defender is fighting for his United future along with Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo as Solskjaer bids to trim his squad.

Bailly enjoyed a good start to life with the Red Devils and was named man of the match as they won the Community Shield in 2016 in his first game for the club.

However, the 25-year-old has been unable to kick on as he would have liked since then and made just 12 league appearances last term.
