Man Utd star Daniel James' dream AC Milan impact as he plays hero's role at Cardiff's Principality Stadium

Manchester United star Daniel James made the dream return to Wales as he scored the decisive penalty to beat AC Milan in the club's pre-season friendly in Cardiff.

After the two clubs played out a 2-2 draw at the Principality Stadium, James was on hand to score the winning spot-kick on his first taste of football back in his home country since leaving Swansea City this summer.

It caps an impressive pre-season for the 21-year-old, who has been heavily involved in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans since signing for £18m in June.

United led through Marcus Rashford, before former Liverpool midfielder Suso and Samu Castillejo put the Italian giants ahead.

Jesse Lingard levelled up to take the game to penalties - where James was the hero in front of his home crowd.

United duo Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba were absent from the Cardiff clash, with Lukaku set to join Juventus.

Pogba missed out with a back spasm, sparking rumours he failed to make the trip to Wales in a bid to force through a move to Real Madrid.

It has been mooted that Wales star Gareth Bale could be used as a makeweight in any deal for the French midfielder.
