Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes sends Champions League warning after Everton draw

Bruno Fernandes has claimed Manchester United must raise their level if they are to secure a Champions League place.

Fernandes continued his explosive start at United, following his £46million move from Sporting Lisbon, with his third goal in as many games in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Everton .

The point kept Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in fifth place, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea , with 10 games left to play.

Although United did not lose and kept within touching distance of Frank Lampard's side with the point at Goodison Park, Fernandes said the Reds now need to embark on a winning run.

“With this draw, we need to be a little bit mad, because we need to do much better,” said Fernandes.

“We need to win the games, because we want a place in the Champions League.

“So we need to try more, to improve more, and I think in the next games we will be much better.”

Indeed, January addition Fernandes had a lot to live up to after joining United on a five-and-a-half-year contract in a deal initially worth £47million, but which could ultimately cost £67million.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are unbeaten in six matches since Fernandes' arrival, during which time he has helped them to a 2-0 win at Chelsea, reach the last 16 of the Europa League and score in each of the last three games.

United face Derby in the FA Cup on Thursday, before hosting local rivals Manchester City in their Premier League derby clash on Sunday.

After that, Solskjaer's side face top-four rivals Tottenham and Sheffield United, with both games potentially proving decisive in United's bid for fourth spot.
