Man Utd star Ander Herrera reveals why he loves getting abused by fans

Ander Herrera just loves the hate he gets from angry opposition fans.

The Manchester United midfield star is the first to admit he has an insatiable desire to be a winner in the Premier League.

And Herrera vows he will never hold back from mixing it and adding needle to every game he plays in a red shirt.

Herrera, just three months away from celebrating five years at Old Trafford, said: “I love it.

“To be honest, I would be very worried if opposition fans loved me.

“If they hate me, I think I’m doing things well. In terms of football, it means I don’t make it easy for them. As long as my fans are backing me, I love it.

“You try to win – always within the rules – but you always try to win.”

Herrera has enjoyed his career at the Theatre of Dreams and feels humbled by the appreciation from the faithful.

He added: “I could never have imagined I was going to receive so much love from the United fans. I’ll never be able to give back everything they do for me.

“The only way I can come close is to give everything every time I represent the club. I realised very quickly that, as long as you do that – as long as you die on the pitch for the club and the badge – the fans will forgive you if you make mistakes.

“That is something really different because this is a club that has won a lot of trophies with some of the best players in history.”
