Man Utd stance on Ismaila Sarr deal with transfer deadline fast approaching

Manchester United will not be making a deadline day move for Watford's Ismalia Sarr, according to Old Trafford insiders.

After United's move for Jadon Sancho failed, the Reds looked at alternative winger options.

They included Watford star Sarr and Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele.

But with Watford demanding £45million for Sarr and United only entertaining the prospect of a loan, the word from Old Trafford is that no deal is currently on the table.

Senegal international Sarr, 22, joined Watford from Rennes last summer for a deal in the region of £30million.

And despite the Hornets' relegation from the top flight, he enhanced his reputation - notably with his display in their 3-0 win over Liverpool, which ended the champions unbeaten run last term.

Sarr has been in action for Watford in the Championship in the early part of the new season.

But he is keen to return to the Premier League.

United and any other interested parties in England do not need to complete his signature on Monday, with the market remaining open until October 16 for deals between English clubs.

However, if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants any incoming available for the Champions League, then they need to be signed by Tuesday, so that the club can thus register them for European competition.

But unless Watford's stance changes markedly, then Sarr won't be heading to Old Trafford.

United are pursuing a deal to sign Atalanta winger Amad Traore - but he won't arrive before the transfer deadline.

United have been tracking Atalanta winger Traore for several years, through their European scouting network, and are trying to tie up a deal for the Ivory Coast youngster.
