Man Utd staff member taken to hospital in Perth after falling ill on club’s pre-season tour

A member of Manchester United’s travelling party has been taken to hospital after falling ill in Perth.

Man Utd have refused to reveal the identity of the person in question, but it is understood the person in question is not Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or any of his playing staff.

In a statement United said: “A member of our backroom staff was taken ill overnight and has been sent to hospital by our club doctor for further treatment.

“We request that medical confidentiality is respected.”

Further details were reported by local media in Perth, but United refused to offer any clarification as to who was involved.

It is not yet known if the staff member comprises part of Solskjaer’s coaching team.

Royal Perth Hospital declined to comment.

Manchester United players meet fans after training on Australian tour

Solskjær and his squad are in Perth for the start of their pre-season tour to Australia and the Far East.

They are due to play Perth Glory on Saturday and Leeds on Wednesday.

They then travel to Singapore and Shanghai for games Inter Milan and Tottenham.
