Man Utd staff convinced Erling Haaland transfer will happen after Carrington visit

Manchester United staff are reportedly convinced a transfer for Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland will go ahead.

The highly-rated striker has been making a name for himself this season, bagging an incredible 26 goals across all competitions.

Haaland’s displays have seen him attract interest from across Europe with Liverpool and Manchester United battling for his signature.

The striker’s father, Alf-Inge, formerly of Manchester City , has already visited Carrington.

And certain members of United staff now expect them to secure his signature despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid , Barcelona and Juventus .

United are also boosted by the fact Haaland worked under Solskjaer during their time together at Molde, according to The Athletic ,

The Red Devils are in desperate need of firepower up front with Marcus Rashford currently leading the line.

Anthony Martial and Daniel James have both chipped in with goals while Mason Greenwood is also being deployed off the bench.

But the decision to allow Romelu Lukaku to leave in the summer without replacing him has proved costly.

However, Mino Raiola could pose a problem in their pursuit of Haaland.

Any move for the 19-year-old would require dealing with agent Raiola and that is viewed by the United hierarchy as a potential problem.

The current state of their relationship is unclear with Raiola being very vocal about Paul Pogba’s intentions earlier this year.

They’ve also had dealings with Raiola when it comes to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

While United bosses get to work on luring Haaland to Old Trafford behind the scenes, Solskjaer will be focused on getting back to winning ways in the Champions League this week.

The Red Devils take on Astana in the Europa League on Thursday afternoon (3.50pm).

United have already qualified for the knockout stages and with a clash against Aston Villa on Sunday to come the Norwegian boss is likely to rest several of his key stars.
