Man Utd squad arrive for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first training session

The Manchester United squad arrived at Carrington earlier on Thursday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of training for the first time.

Michael Carrick has overseen training in the two days since Jose Mourinho's sacking, but now former striker Solskjaer will take charge until the end of the season.

Solskjaer was first through the door at the training ground on Thursday with his opening match on Saturday evening against Cardiff, his only previous team in English football.

The interim boss is understood to have his fully squad at his disposal apart from Alexis Sanchez who is back in Chile to continue rehabilitation for his hamstring injury.

Solskjaer's first press conference is scheduled for 8.30am on Friday morning.

Standard Sport understands United will press ahead with searching for a permanent replacement for Mourinho irrespective of Solksjaer's results, though the Molde manager has not been ruled out as an option beyond the summer.

A compensation package believed to be in the region of £7m has been agreed with Molde in advance should Solskjaer perform miracles to convince the United hierarchy to keep him for next season.
