Man Utd 'set to make £40m move' for Italian wonderkid Sandro Tonali

Manchester United are reportedly set to make a move for £40million-rated Italian wonderkid Sandro Tonali.

Tonali, 19, has already earned a full international cap after bursting onto the scene to fire Brescia to Serie A promotion last season.

The teenager - dubbed the next Andrea Pirlo - has been on United's radar for 18 months.

And according to The Sun, the Red Devils are now preparing to make a move with scouts convinced he is a "generational talent".

United representatives again watched Tonali last week, and his performances since stepping up to Serie A have convinced club bosses he is the real deal.

But they will face stern competition for his signature, with Manchester City , Chelsea , Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan all amongst those believed to be monitoring the in-demand youngster.

The deep-lying playmaker has bagged six goals in his 61 professional games and proven himself to be a well-rounded player, making his full Italy debut against Liechtenstein in a Euro 2020 qualifier earlier this month.

United are keen on midfield reinforcements and are placing a focus on young players with questions still being asked about the long-term future of Paul Pogba.

Links with Tonali come with Declan Rice, Sean Longstaff and Lille youngster Boubakary Soumare all on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's radar, although Tonali appears the most in-demand.

Brescia president Massimo Cellino is also desperate to keep hold of his prized asset and is preparing a bumper new contract offer to keep him put.

Cellino recently said: "All the big Italian clubs, and abroad Atletico Madrid, PSG and Manchester City.

"But in my view, he’d be better off remaining with Brescia. The other day, his agent and his parents were telling me about this €50m evaluation. I replied that for me he is worth €300m, which means I don’t want to sell.

"I have a dream. If Sandro accepts, I am ready to make a big financial sacrifice to extend his contract.

"It’s up to him to decide. He can stay here and enjoy his football, or go to a big club and risk being left on the bench."
