Birmingham boss Pep Clotet refused to confirm Manchester United target Jude Bellingham would be staying with the club.
Sunday Mirror Sport revealed last week that United had offered an eight-figure package for the teenager.
Bellingham is in no rush to make a decision on his future and found the net in Birmingham's 1-1 draw with Cardiff on Saturday.
Clotet believes he is best served staying at St. Andrew's but was unable to reassure Birmingham fans he will still be at the club when the transfer window shuts.
The Spaniard said: "I don't know. I do have the feeling Jude will stay.
"He is very happy here and he knows it's one of the right steps for his progression.
"He has played more than 20 games for us and that has a value."
Birmingham are being offered a hefty downpayment with add-ons expected to take the bid over the £12.5m-mark.
And Clotet is unsure whether they could resist a big bid for Bellingham because of their financial position.
"Because I am not the manager, in my position as head coach, it is difficult to evaluate," he said.
"He has been watched since he was 13 or 14," he added. "For the Middlesbrough game, half of Europe was here. He is used to it.
"Jude is very focused on his job and I have never seen him distracted," he said.
Bellingham will not celebrate his 17 birthday until the end of June but he already has half-a-season of competitive football in the Championship under his belt.
