Cristiano Ronaldo completed his sensational return to Old Trafford on deadline day after leaving the club some 12 years ago.
The Portuguese star re-joined United for an initial fee worth £12.86million after expressing his desire to leave Juventus.
News of the 36-year-old’s return sent shockwaves around the globe, especially after Ronaldo had reportedly been close to joining rivals Manchester City, with further reports suggesting he offered his services to Barcelona.
But whilst Ronaldo’s homecoming will be celebrated by most, others will feel less pleased given the negative impact it could potentially have on their career at Old Trafford.
Here, Mirror Sport looks at the winners and losers at United of Ronaldo's arrival.

Winners
Bruno Fernandes
Although Fernandes will perhaps not be happy about stepping aside from free-kick and penalty duty, the Portuguese attacking midfielder will link up with his countryman in Manchester.
The duo have formed a great partnership for Portugal over the years and Ronaldo’s incoming could lead to even better performances from Fernandes.
Ronaldo is likely to play in an advanced role up top, with Fernandes supporting and feeding balls into him from attacking midfield.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
If there is one man at the club who is over the moon about Ronaldo, it’s the United boss.
Not only has Solskjaer been able to spend freely in the transfer market this summer, but he has also secured the addition of one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
When asked about his views on the Portuguese star, Solskjaer was full of praise for the 36-year-old who will almost certainly slot straight into the starting line-up.
Who is the biggest winner and loser from Ronaldo's arrival? Comment your thoughts below.
“He is going to make us a better team,” Solskjaer said. “He’s a special boy, or man now. He was a boy when I played with him. Of course, the players are excited, some have played with him in their national team. You see the fans – they are excited. That’s what he does – he is a special player.
“He is a great player, a great human being. I’m excited to keep building this squad. He will bring something completely different. Hopefully Cristiano can come in and show what he has done in his career. I am sure he likes all the talk about being old. Make it personal and he will show what he can do.”
Jadon Sancho
It’s never easy for a player moving to Old Trafford with a heavy price tag on your shoulders, given the weight of expectation to succeed.
However, Ronaldo’s homecoming will hopefully lift some pressure off Sancho as the spotlight will be focused heavily on the Portugal international.
Sancho will also have the added bonus of feeding balls and crosses into Ronaldo, which, more often than not, will end up in the back of the net.
Losers
Anthony Martial
Where there are winners, there are always losers, and Martial is set to be one of them.
The Frenchman has started just one of United’s opening three Premier League games, and the arrival of Ronaldo is likely to push Martial further down the pecking order.
Martial could have been on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, but the France international decided to remain at the club.
While United fans will be hopeful that the introduction of Ronaldo will be good for Martial, it is difficult to see that being the case.
Jesse Lingard
Lingard is another player who has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move this summer.
The 28-year-old had been linked with a possible move to West Ham all summer, but the Hammers were reportedly put off by United’s price tag.
Solskjaer has insisted that Lingard is still very much part of his plans this season, but it is unlikely that the England international will experience regular game time.
Lingard was on the fringes at Old Trafford before Ronaldo’s homecoming, let alone now.
Edinson Cavani
The Uruguayan forward signed a one-year contract extension at United in May with the hope of pushing on at United.
However, a lot has changed since then and Cavani is no longer the Red Devils main threat going forward.
Cavani scored ten Premier League goals in his debut campaign for United, but the 34-year-old will spend more time on the bench this season, given the Red Devils play with only one striker.
