Man Utd's transfer package for Bruno Fernandes as star flies in complete deal

Manchester United have put together a lucrative transfer package to entice Bruno Fernandes to join the club from Sporting Lisbon.

The midfielder is before the closure of the January transfer window.

A friend of Fernandes shared a picture of the 25-year-old at an airport on Tuesday evening, fuelling speculation that he will soon complete his switch to the Premier League.

Fernandes was also spotted by reporters at the airport, and claimed that "it always was" his preference to play in the Premier League when asked if he was heading for United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to be drawn on the Fernandes move at his Tuesday press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City, saying: "You're wasting it [your time].

"So don't ask it. I haven't got any updates for you on transfers. I think it was a waste [of a question]. I gave you the option.

"I haven't got anything to say now, my mind is on the game."

United's deal for Fernandes will see them pay Sporting an initial £46.6million for their captain, with two potential bonus additions linked to certain clauses.

The first of these is worth £8.5million, with the second worth an additional £12.7million.

That takes the total cost of the deal up to a money-spinning £67.8million should Fernandes fulfil all of his objectives at the club, which would make him United's fourth most expensive player ever behind Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and Romelu Lukaku.

The club have until Friday to complete the deal, meaning that Fernandes could be eligible to make his debut in Saturday evening's clash against Wolves at Old Trafford.
