Man Utd's Mason Greenwood and Man City's Phil Foden rooming together on England duty

Manchester-based pair Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden are rooming together with England's under-21s as Aidy Boothroyd's side prepare for their upcoming games against Turkey and Kosovo.

Greenwood, 17, and fellow teenager Foden, 19, were named in Boothroyd's 23-man squad having appeared for United and City respectively during the opening weeks of the new season.

"He's a very, very talented player," Boothroyd said of Greenwood. "He walks through the door and you instantly like him because he's such a humble, nice young bloke.

"He's rooming with Phil funnily enough so that's the two Manchester lads getting together and performing for England and also living together for a couple of weeks as well.

"Mason's a great talent, we've only had one session but he looks very impressive and will certainly add to the armoury we've got."

Boothroyd added that he believes Foden is in the right place for his development, despite finding consistent game time difficult to come by.

Foden has only managed 10 minutes of Premier League football this season and hasn't featured for City since the opening day of the season.

"Phil's working with the best players in the world and arguably the best coach in the world so he's going to get a lot of positives out of that," Boothroyd added.

"He's not playing games but I think City and Pep [Guardiola] know what to do with him better than perhaps I would because they see more of him than I do."
