Man Utd's Marcus Rashford rekindles romance with childhood sweetheart months after split
After eight years together the pair ended their relationship reportedly due to lockdown pressures and spending too much time together ahead of the summer, but they now appear to be dating once again.
It's been a difficult start to the season for Rashford as the star has trailed off slightly after making a scoring return to United following shoulder surgery after Euro 2022.
But the 24-year-old is now back with childhood sweetheart Lucia Loi after the pair got back together shortly before Christmas.
Rashford and Lucia met while the pair were at school, and she was with him as he made a name for himself at United and with England as a youngster, and has been seen supporting him from the stands.
But their relationship came to an end shortly before Euro 2020 as sources claimed that lockdown strained the pair, although they still shared a “mutual love and respect” for one another.
Rashford was apparently devastated as Lucia moved out of the United forward’s home, but friends close to the pair reiterated that the split was amicable and did not involve anyone else.
However, distance makes the heart grow fonder, and a post from Lucia on her Instagram story appeared to show Rashford's hand resting on her boot, and the pair are seemingly back together following a short break.
She was also seen getting into Rashford's car following United’s 1-0 defeat against Wolves on January 3, signalling that their relationship was back in full swing.
According to The Sun, a source said: "The intent for them to get back together has always been there. The break was good for their relationship as it offered them both space and assurance that they wanted to make this work moving forward.
"They have been together since school so an opportunity to breathe and focus on themselves was important."
Their Christmas link-up was confirmed by another source, who said: "They have a shared history. She is one of the people who knows him best. They got back together before Christmas and are taking things slowly.
"But they make each other happy and he knows she is loyal and he can trust her."
Upon their split, a source close to Rashford told the Sun: "There is a strong mutual love and respect for one another, having met at school, and there is a continued dialogue with the hope of a reconciliation in the future."
And the United star is seemingly no longer distraught, as he is back with his childhood sweetheart who he started dating at the age of 15.
