Man Utd's Marcus Rashford channels Joe Wicks to teach children's PE class

Marcus Rashford has channeled his inner Joe Wicks to take children across the country through an early morning PE lesson.

The Man Utd and England striker teamed up with BBC Bitesize to appear on CBBC and iPlayer at 9:25am on Wednesday morning, leading a session aimed at kids stuck at home.

Celebrity fitness coach Wicks has been hosting similar sessions throughout the lockdown, with Rashford now taking a turn at energising the nation's youth.

A number of fans tuned in, many of whom sporting Man Utd tops with several bearing Rashford's name across the back.

One family of four boys were all dressed in full United strips and were taking part in the session.

Rashford was even beamed live in classrooms for pupils.

The striker was performing the routine from his own home gym, and included exercises such as press ups, sit ups, jumping jacks and lunges.

He also took viewers through a range of stretches to warm up and cool down.

Many of those involved shared pictures of them following the workout from their living rooms, which Rashford shared to his own Instagram story.

One fan even showed off a picture he had drawn of the star.

Despite having plenty of experience in fitness work, Rashford was keen to do his research in preparation.

He tweeted earlier this week: "I have some homework and I need help from any PE teachers following me. CBBC have asked me to pull together a PE session.

"I obviously know how to warm up but what else do I need? Is it all about cardio?

"Help please. I want to get this right."

He even pressed United assistant manager Mike Phelan for advice ahead of the session.

Rashford has been doing plenty to help ease the effects of coronavirus during lockdown, and is the latest footballer to join forces with BBC Bitesize after Man City forward Sergio Aguero taught youngsters Spanish.
