Man Utd's Lee Grant highlights Dean Henderson strength in comparison with David de Gea

Manchester United's veteran shot-stopper Lee Grant has given a glowing verdict on the quality of the Red Devils' goalkeeping options.

The 37-year-old back-up believes No.1 David de Gea has returned to action at a "really high level" and singled out Dean Henderson for praise.

Henderson made his senior United debut in the Carabao Cup clash with Luton Town, following up the 3-0 win with another clean sheet in the fourth-round tie with Brighton.

Meanwhile, England youth international Nathan Bishop arrived from Southend in January to provide further depth between the sticks.

And Argentina star Sergio Romero remains on United's books, though he was pushing for an Old Trafford exit before Monday's transfer deadline.

Grant has been particularly impressed with the concentration shown by Henderson, who shone during two seasons on loan at Sheffield United before signing a new deal with United this summer.

“It’s hugely important,” Grant told United's official website. “We like to dominate possession and we like to dominate the opposition so we’re not always at the heart of the action.

"As Dean showed really well on a couple of occasions you have to be ready when called upon.”

But Grant was also keen to highlight the number of quality options the Red Devils have, adding: “I have [been impressed], but not just from him [Henderson].

”Nathan Bishop has been outstanding in training and all the lads will tell you the same. David [De Gea] has come back with a really high level so I’m really pleased for David and how he has started the season as well.

"The goalkeeping department is in really good shape.”

United have conceded 11 times in their first three Premier League games of the season with De Gea in goal.

It remains to be seen if the Spaniard will be handed the gloves for Champions League competition, or if manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will turn to Henderson as United travel to PSG in 10 days' time.
