Manchester United have sent a classy message to Jurgen Klopp after his mother, Elisabeth, died at the age of 81.
Klopp said his mother "meant everything to me" as he paid tribute to her in German newspaper Schwarzwaelder Bote .
The Liverpool boss also said he was unable to travel to his homeland to attend the funeral due to coronavirus-enforced travel restrictions.
"The fact that I can't be at the funeral is due to the terrible times," said Klopp. "As soon as the circumstances allow, we will hold a wonderful commemoration that is appropriate to it."
On Wednesday, the Reds' Twitter account posted a picture of Klopp clasping his hands to the Anfield sky.
They accompanied the post with the club's motto and a heart emoji, writing: "You'll Never Walk Alone, Jurgen."
Quoting Liverpool's message, Manchester United wrote: "Heartfelt condolences to Jurgen and his family, from everyone at United."
Elisabeth married Klopp's father, Nortbert, in 1960 and they had three children: Stefanie, Isolde and Jurgen.
"She was a real mum in the best sense of the word," said Klopp.
"As a devout Christian, I know she is in a better place now."
Norbert Klopp died in 2000 at the age of 66 after a short illness.
Meanwhile, the Premier League also sent a message to Klopp on Twitter, writing: "The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Premier League are with Jurgen, his family and his friends at such a difficult time."
A host of clubs from England and beyond also sent notes of support to the 53-year-old, including West Ham, Arsenal, Tottenham, Wolves, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling wrote: "Condolences. My thoughts are with you," and accompanied his message with a praying emoji.
