There is some confusion over when the likes of Manchester United and Wolves will begin their Premier League 2020-21 campaign if they progress deep into the Europa League.
Both sides are in a good position to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition, with a mini tournament taking place in Germany between August 10-21.
The new Premier League season is due to commence on September 12, but according to The Athletic it was agreed that each club should have a minimum of a 30 day break before the start of the campaign.
That would mean that if United or Wolves made it all the way to the final, they would not play their first Premier League game until September 21 at the earliest.

Likewise, if Manchester City or Chelsea reached the Champions League final, which takes place on September 23, the start to their Premier League season would also be delayed.
There are further issues, however, with the fact UEFA have scheduled the Super Cup to take place in September 24 in Budapest, something which could see a successful side's start to the Premier League pushed back even further.
That would leave them playing catch-up with the other teams, and given how hectic the fixture schedule is likely to be anyway due to the later-than-normal start to the season, it is not clear how all their fixtures would be fulfilled.

It is a situation which could cause a real headache for the likes of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and brings with it the prospect of having to play two or three times per week on a regular basis.
Squads would no doubt have to be drastically rotated week in week out, and if they were to progress in next season's European competitions, in the FA Cup or in the Carabao Cup the games would only continue to pile up.
