Man Utd's forgotten man set for return after "disastrous" and "horrible" performance

Diogo Dalot is poised for a return to Manchester United having been heavily criticised after AC Milan's surprise loss at the weekend.

The Serie A title hopefuls lost 2-0 at midtable Spezia as they failed to take advantage of Juventus ' reverse.

Dalot made just his fifth start of the season for the Rossoneri, but he endured a forgettable day.

The 21-year-old had headed to the San Siro in search of more minutes, but his move to Italy has not gone as planned.

Milan News claimed his display as "disastrous" and "horrible".

Milan Live said that Dalot had a "largely negative performance, which was rejected by everyone.

"It is not the first time that Dalot has not shown himself up to par.

"Apart from the San Siro match against Europa League opponents Sparta Prague, in which he scored a goal and an assist, his performances have never been really positive."

The Portuguese defender was usurped in the pecking order at Old Trafford by the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams.

Injuries didn't help his cause and Dalot has confessed that there is a sense of frustration that he wasn't feeling 100 per cent.

"Of course, the feeling is a little deeper, more because I didn't have the time I liked physically," he told Record.

"I spent great moments at United. I played very important games for me and the team.

"I left with a bit of a bittersweet feeling for not being physically available for all those games I lost due to injury.

"But it is what it is. I wouldn't change anything because what I learned was very important for my future and how I am now.

"I don't regret it or look back with disappointment."
