Man Utd's forgotten man 'says goodbyes' ahead of January transfer exit

Manchester United's forgotten man Sergio Romero has already said his goodbyes to his teammates as a January exit looms.

The Argentine was desperate to leave in the previous transfer window but a move failed to materialise.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on moving on several members of his squad.

Romero is just one of many who have had little to no game-time all season, including Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard.

United want to see them leave to lower the ballooning wage bill at Old Trafford.

There are also too many players in the first-team to handle for Solskjaer, though Romero is reported to be training in his home country Argentina.

The goalkeeper has already sent his goodbyes to his United teammates, report the Manchester Evening News.

The 33-year-old will see his contract expire at the end of the season and he wants to join Boca Juniors as he currently resides in Buenos Aires.

Romero is desperate to depart to boost his chances in the national side, with Argentina co-hosting this summer's Copa America with Colombia.

However, if a transfer cannot be agreed then the stopper will be expected back at Carrington in February.

United have an option to extend his contract by a year, though he was not included in either their Premier League or Champions League squads.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer has already explained his ambitions in the transfer window this month and has admitted that he wants new additions.

He told United's official website: “As a manager, you always hope you can do something but, then again, it's not something that's nailed on.

"It has to be the right player, the right age, he's got to fit into this squad and for the right value.

”We're always looking and the transfer window will be open but it might not happen.“
