Daniel James says Wales boss Ryan Giggs has played a big part in helping him settle into life at Manchester United.
The Welshman signed on at Old Trafford from Swansea City last summer in a deal worth around £15m.
Giggs was believed to have told United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about the 22-year old's talents, having handed him his international debut in November 2018.
The last 12 months have since seen James emerge as a key member of Solskjaer's plans, with the man himself admitting Giggs is continuing to play an instrumental role in his development.
And James will no doubt endear himself further to United supporters after emphatically denying he was once a boyhood Liverpool fan.
He told The Sunday Mirror : "It definitely isn't true that I supported Liverpool.
"It's been a crazy 12 months and every day I think of what I was doing a year ago. I exchange text messages with Ryan Giggs quite a lot because he was a legend here and someone I see as a big inspiration.
"Obviously, with him being the manager for Wales he helps me a bit.
"The main message from him when I came here was for me to be myself - and that's exactly what I've been."
Man Utd face Liverpool at 4.30pm today, and James says: "I don't think we go into any game as underdogs.
"We are Man United – and we don’t go anywhere feeling like we are going to lose.
“We are the only team to have taken points off Liverpool this season, so will go there full of high hopes. It has always been like that. Since day one here, you realise that we don’t go into any game as the underdogs."
