Man Utd's colossal transfer deal of the summer hinges on £40m lesson as Liverpool issue £27m megastar update and Frank Lampard inspires Chelsea star to leave

Here are the latest transfer news and rumours for the Premier League.

Man Utd learn from Donny van de Beek transfer for Jadon Sancho move

Manchester United are said to be keen to get Jadon Sancho's transfer from Borussia Dortmund over the line by next weekend.

But United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is reportedly taking stock from the success of signing Holland international Donny van de Beek from Ajax in a £40m deal, reinforcing his belief that England's Sancho is not worth the £108 Dortmund are holding out for, Daily Star reports.

They say United have valued him more near £80m, taking into account the impact of coronavirus on the transfer market, and don't want to be held to ransom.

Sancho has held talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is understood to have agreed a contract in principle, it's been reported.

Liverpool not ruling out £27m Spanish star Thiago Alcantara

Liverpool haven't ruled out a move for Spanish star Thiago Alcantara, according to reports.

The Bayern Munich midfielder looks likely to depart Germany this summer after winning the Champions League for the second time in his career.

Both Jurgen Klopp's Reds and Manchester United have been linked with the 29-year-old, who is said to be available for around £27m.

Chelsea, who want to sign another central midfielder, are reportedly not interested.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who said on Twitter: "Chelsea have not made any contact for Thiago Alcantara – just to be clear.

"Manchester United had a contact with his agent days ago but have not started any official talk with Bayern Münich.

"So quiet atm. And Jurgen Klopp would love to have Thiago as new #LFC signing."

"If I invented a word that would end speculation, I could become really rich," FootballLondon report he said in his press conference on Friday.

"I can’t end speculation as long as the transfer window is open. Thiago Alcantara is a really good player. It’s nice we are linked with him but that’s pretty much all really.

"He’s a good player, Liverpool is a big club, so it’s nice, but apart from that, I’ve got nothing to say. Unfortunately, I cannot end the speculation."

Frank Lampard's talks on Ampadu transfer

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard gave Ethan Ampadu's move to Sheffield United the green light after the Wales star spoke to him before agreeing to the switch.

The Chelsea boss said it was a "good option" for the 19-year-old, who was unveiled as a new signing this week.

Yet to start a league game for Lampard's side, he has made one appearance in the top flight off the bench, spent last season on loan with RB Leipzig and will now be bidding to force his way into Chris Wilder's side and get regular football in the top flight.

"I spoke to him," Ampadu told Yorkshire Live.

"When we had the conversation, he expressed the importance of playing games, which I expressed to him as well because in the last couple of seasons I had not played a lot. He said that he felt this was a good option. He gave me the confidence believing in this place."
