Man Utd's assessment of Amad Diallo's first training sessions ahead of Liverpool fixture

Amad Diallo has made a promising start to life at Manchester United by impressing boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The teenage winger joined the club this month after a deal was struck with Atalanta last summer - the fee could rise to around £40million.

Despite making just five first team appearances for the Serie A outfit, Diallo has earned premature comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

United fans have so far only been treated to a few training clips from Italy, showing the winger dart past defenders a couple years his senior before scoring.

Diallo linked up with his new team-mates earlier this week and it seems he's already been making the right impressions in training.

"Amad has looked really comfortable and he’s settled in really well in training," Solskjaer said.

"It shows how technically adept he is and, of course, we’ll give him time to settle and adjust, but hopefully we can see him on the pitch in not too long. He’s definitely done well in training."

With United facing Liverpool on Sunday in a top of the table clash it is unlikely Diallo will feature. And he could follow the same path as fellow 18-year-old winger Facundo Pellistri who arrived in the summer.

The Uruguayan has so far spent his time crafting his game in Neil Wood's United U23s.

“That’s the decision we have to make with the [social] bubbles and all this, they need competitive games and, at the moment, we don’t have any," answered Solskjaer when asked when fans can first expect to see Diallo.

"He will be training [with us] and let’s see when he’ll get his first game-time – if it’s from the bench with us or with the Under-23s, likely to be the Under-23s of course."
