Man Utd's Alexis Sanchez transfer stance revealed amid exit talk

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's return to Manchester United has heralded an upturn in fortunes at Old Trafford for a host of players.

Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are among the previously under-performing stars who have found form as the Norwegian has returned a feelgood factor to the club.

Results have subsequently improved, as United have won 14 of their 19 games under Solskjaer - albeit they welcome Watford to Old Trafford on Saturday on the back of successive defeats.

Solskjaer was confirmed as United's permanent boss on Thursday but one player who has not enjoyed a lift in spirits or form under Solskjaer has been Alexis Sanchez .

The club made a great effort to bring the Chilean to Old Trafford 14 months ago, beating neighbours Manchester City to his signature.

Sanchez has not had the desired impact at United, scoring only three Premier League goals in that time.

He is currently sidelined with an injury that looks set to keep him out of first-team action until the end of April.

The size of his contract - reported to be worth £400,000 a week - has also caused problems for the club when renegotiating the deals of current players.

David De Gea is the most high profile, and is holding out for parity with the Chilean having been offered a contract worth £350,000 - which would make him the world's highest paid goalkeeper.

But according to a report in the Evening Standard , United are not yet ready to cut their losses with Sanchez - as the club believes he retains substantial commercial appeal.

Prospective managers were reportedly sounded out on what they would do with Sanchez were they to take the Old Trafford hotseat.

Solskjaer's appointment on a three-year deal was subsequently confirmed but that is not necessarily good news for the Chilean. He has started only six games under the Norwegian.

United have not received any concrete offers for Sanchez, though, while the club are not interested in a swap deal. China remains the only realistic destination should the club want to recoup some of their money.

“I can’t do anything about Alexis Sanchez," the Norwegian said when asked about the forward prior to his latest injury.

"When he plays he needs to finds himself because we know there’s a quality player there.”
