Man Utd receive unlikely Cristiano Ronaldo boost as Juventus turn attention elsewhere

Juventus are serious about making a move for Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic, but will need to get Cristiano Ronaldo off their books before they can do any business.

The Portugal captain's future is up in the air this summer with Manchester United among the leading contenders to secure his signature.

Ronaldo has one year left on his current deal at Juve and if he doesn't extend his stay in Turin, the Serie A side could be willing to listen to offers so he doesn't walk for free in 12 months time.

Juve also need to get the high earner off their wage bill if they want to pursue other targets so it could make sense for both parties to go their separate ways during this window.

And Vlahovic seems to at the top of the club's shortlist as they target the Serbian striker who scored 21 goals in Italy's top flight for Fiorentina.

However, Juve are facing stiff competition from Sevilla to acquire his services, according to Tuttojuve.

The report states that they need to offload Ronaldo before they can make a move for the 21-year-old so the Spanish side's interest could force their hand if they don't want to risk losing out on the rising star.

La Viola are in a position where they need to cash in on their prized asset due to the financial fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

That could be good news for United who are in the frame to reunite with their former player.

Juventus director of football Federico Cherubini insists there has been no indication from Ronaldo that he wants to leave the club, however, as he rejoins the team for pre-season following Portugal's exit of Euro 2020.

He said: "There has been no signal from Ronaldo. Especially the rumours that there should be a transfer and there’s no sign from Juventus in this regard.

"Last season he scored 36 goals in 44 games, the numbers don't always say everything but hide many truths, we are happy that Ronaldo will join the team as soon as he has finished his holidays.

"I don't have the crystal ball, but right now there are no signals regarding a possible transfer."
