Manchester United have been handed a boost in their attempts to keep David de Gea with Paris Saint-Germain looking at other options, according to reports.
The Spanish goalkeeper has just one year remaining on his current contract and is yet to sign a new deal with the Red Devils - meaning that the Premier League club risk losing him for free next summer.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with PSG believed to be interested in a £60m move for stopper.
But the Sun reports that the French giants have now turned their attentions to highly-rated AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma following the return of Leonardo as the club's sporting director.
The 20-year-old has impressed in Serie A since making his senior debut in 2015, and is already a regular member of the Italian national team.
He made 39 appearances in all competitions last season and kept 15 clean sheets.
If PSG's pursuit of the Italian is successful, the publication claims that De Gea will have few high-profile options to choose from this summer.
He has been regularly linked with a move to Real Madrid , but the Spanish club are looking to strengthen in other areas after signing Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea a year ago.
And according to the publication, the Spaniard is expected to stay at Old Trafford a least another season if a move to Paris fails to materialise, giving the Red Devils more time to convince him to pen a new deal.
If De Gea does remain at the club for another season, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that he is able to rediscover some of the form that saw him named the club's 'player of the year' four times.
