Paul Pogba can take Manchester United to the next level alongside Bruno Fernandes once the Frenchman returns from injury.
That's according to former Chelsea star Craig Burley, who reckons the transfer for the Portugal international can reinvigorate United's £89million Frenchman.
Pogba has had a stop-start season in which he's made only eight appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils - the last of these on Boxing Day.
While recovering from injury, the World Cup winner has been linked with a move away from United, with Real Madrid still reportedly keen on snapping him up.
But Burley reckons it may not be the end of the road for Pogba at United, and believes that the Red Devils' £46.6million-plus deal for Fernandes may just be the boost he needs.
"Paul Pogba can shift this United team when fit," Burley said on ESPN.
"I know he' had a lot of criticism, and he's not fit at the moment, but when he's fit and flying - if he hasn't got the drive and talent to push them forward, it'll be a struggle for Bruno Fernandes as well.
"He'll improve it, but a lot more pieces of the jigsaw have to go into United before we see anything resembles the big successful teams they've had in the past. But, he's a start. He's a start."
Fernandes is in the process of completing his medical at Manchester United after flying into the UK on Wednesday evening.
