Man Utd receive Ole Gunnar Solskjaer message amid Mauricio Pochettino link

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the subject of a "witch hunt" and should be backed not sacked by Manchester United.

That's according to former Red Devils defender Paul Parker, who doesn't want to see Solsjkaer replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.

Former Spurs manager Pochettino has long been linked with the top job at Old Trafford, and has already had his name thrown in the mix this season.

Solskjaer's Manchester United have started the campaign poorly and are currently down in fifteenth after four matches played.

But the Red Devils responded in Europe last time out, beating Paris Saint-Germain away from home in the Champions League.

And now Parker is calling for an end to the speculation, saying Solskjaer needs backing.

"I think there is a witch hunt against Man United in certain ways," Parker told talkSPORT.

"People are looking at a situation that's happening within the club and their hierarchy. There's a massive issue against Ole Gunnar being manager of Manchester United.

"There's a lot of people who can't wait to throw knives every time United lose a game who never pat him on the back for winning a game of football but they'll throw knives when he loses.

"He's a good fit for Manchester United in this moment in time. It needed something like that after Jose Mourinho went.

"It needed someone who was going to put the club first and look at every area that needed the soft touch or just a little cuddle and he's gone and done that."
