Manchester United are 'seriously considering' a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak and are prepared to trigger his release clause, according to reports.
The 26-year-old, who joined the Spanish club from Benfica in 2014, recently penned a contract extension in the Spanish capital but his buy-out clause was only increased from €100million (£86m) to €120m (£104m).
And according to ESPN , United believe that sum represents ‘excellent value’ for a player who is viewed by some to be the best goalkeeper in the world.
Despite previously stating his desire to stay at the Wanda Metropolitano and extending his deal until 2023, it is claimed that Oblak would like to see Atletico sign more top players in order to keep pace with domestic rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid .

The Red Devils interest in the Slovenian stopper could open the door for long-term goalkeeper David de Gea to leave Old Trafford this summer.
De Gea is about to enter the final year of his current contract and is yet to sign a new deal with the Premier League club, with Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain all believed to be interested in Spain international.
Despite being named United's player of the year in four of the last five seasons, the current campaign has seen the 28-year-old make a number of uncharacteristic errors which have cost his side.

Romelu Lukaku sends message to David De Gea after latest blunder
After mistakes against Barcelona and local rivals Manchester City , De Gea made a critical error during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Chelsea , which allowed Marcos Alonso to net an equaliser for Maurizio Sarri's team.
The result leaves United at risk of missing out on a top four finish with the club in sixth place in the Premier League table with just two games remaining
That could provide a serious obstacle in any potential move for Oblak, with reports suggesting Oblak would only be prepared to move to a team guaranteed Champions League football.
