Man Utd 'ready to poach Man City 600-goal wonderkid' as starlet rejects new Blues deal

Manchester United are reportedly confident of landing Manchester City wonderkid Charlie McNeill - who has racked up a staggering 600 goals in the youth ranks.

England youth international McNeill, 16, has rejected professional terms at the Etihad with their cross-city rivals apparently keen on swooping for his services.

Given his age, the two clubs would either need to agree a fee or have the financial details decided by a tribunal.

McNeill's academy goal-scoring exploits would see him command a seven-figure sum, report the Daily Mail.

City are reportedly keen to include a raft of performance-related add-ons in any fee, but are at an impasse with United.

McNeill is a boyhood United fan and spent time in the Red Devils' junior set-up before making the switch to City six years ago.

But he has found opportunities in the Blues' Under-18s hard to come by and is keen on taking on a new challenge.

While City do not want to stand in the youngster's way, they are insistent on agreeing a fee which reflects his ability and potential.

Newly-promoted Leeds and European hopefuls Wolves are also monitoring the situation, and could be encouraged by the protracted negotiations between the two Manchester clubs.

McNeill wrote on Instagram last month: "A massive thank you to Man City for everything over the past six years. It's been such a pleasure to play with some amazing players and I've made some amazing friends too.

"Thanks to all the staff and players for helping me develop as a player and also as a person. I wish everyone the best."
