Man Utd 'ready to make £50m Bruno Fernandes transfer bid' - but there is a problem

Manchester United are ready to table a £50million bid to sign Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.

But there may be a problem before the offer has even been made - Sporting Lisbon are looking for a much bigger transfer fee.

Fernandes has been on the Red Devils' radar for much of the summer, after United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identified him as a man capable of bolstering his midfielder in the new season.

The club prioritised signing Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Swansea City and Crystal Palace respectively, and have also launched a bid to land Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire.

But United's attention will now turn to Fernandes, according to The Independent, with the Red Devils set to offer Sporting Lisbon £50million for his services.

According to reports from Portugal, however, this figure may not be enough to get the transfer over the line.

Sporting want closer to £70million for their prized asset, which could price the Red Devils out of a deal for the 24-year-old.

Fernandes is keen on a move to Manchester United, but the club's board are unsure whether he is worth more than £50million.

The midfielder has little Champions League experience, and although the Red Devils aren't in the competition this season, the club are allegedly unprepared to pay over the odds for a player lacking in this area.
