Man Utd ready to loan out Dan James as they seek to complete £100m Jadon Sancho deal - reports

Wales star Dan James is set to be loaned out by Manchester United next season, according to reports.

The Welsh flier has been a success in his first season at Old Trafford and according to The Sun will be given a bumper new deal.

However, the paper also say he may be sent on loan to ensure he gets regular match time.

That could become more limited next season if United land their number one target Jadon Sancho in a £100million deal this summer. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are also fighting for the forward positions, with Bruno Fernandes playing just behind.

James arrived at United in a £20million deal with reasonably low expectations, but proved to be one of the major hits in a troubled start to the campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has made 37 appearances this season and Solksjaer is ready to reward him with a pay hike.

But with Sancho earmarked for the right wing spot, and Rashford and Martial also in the mix on the other side, reports say Solskjaer may be ready to consider a shock loan deal.

If so, it will put other Premier League clubs and possibly leading Championship sides on red alert. James has already proven his ability at the top level for club and country.

James will get further opportunities to impress when United resume their Premier League campaign against Spurs on June 19. They are also chasing a Europa League and FA Cup double in the coming weeks.

However, Solskjaer is determined to land England and Borussia Dortmund star Sancho. At 20 he is even younger than James, and already has 17 goals and 16 assists in the Bundesliga this season.

Wales boss Ryan Giggs, who recommended James to Solskjaer, recently named Sancho as one of the top three young players in the world.

United are also being heavily linked with two of James' Wales team-mates, Rabbi Matondo and David Brooks.

Matondo is another flier and like Sancho has been playing in the Bundesliga this season, while Bouremouth are said to be ready to cash in on Brooks whose silky skills would fit in perfectly at Old Trafford.
