Man Utd put striking duo high on 'transfer wishlist' ahead of January window

Manchester United reportedly have Mario Mandzukic and Callum Wilson high on their January transfer wishlist.

The Red Devils have found goals hard to come by so far this season and are looking for reinforcements after losing Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez this summer.

According to Sky Sports News, Mandzukic and Wilson are amongst the names on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's shortlist and continuing to be monitored.

They have also continued to be linked with Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as United look to strengthen when the window repoens.

Mandzukic, 33, was heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch late in the summer transfer window, with Sky in Italy suggesting he turned down moves to United, Paris Saint-Germain and a club in Qatar.

But the Croatian ace is still yet to play a Serie A game under new Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri and United are hopeful he will be convinced to make the move when he becomes available again.

Wilson, meanwhile, has scored five goals already for Bournemouth this Premier League season.

The 27-year-old could be costly as he still has three years left on his deal with the Cherries.

But he fits in with their current policy of aiming to recruit top British talent having signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.

The pair both hit the ground running and have been among the brightest sparks at United during a lacklustre start to the season.

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff has also continued to be tipped to move to Old Trafford with Ed Woodward hoping the Magpies' current crisis could force them to lower their asking price for the youngster.

A new striker appears to be the priority, however, with Solskjaer recently saying: "You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know it's a forward we're going to try to recruit next time.

"We're looking for some creativity and goals, but they [potential signings] have to be the right one.

"There were strikers available [in the summer] but not the ones we wanted. We couldn't get the one we wanted."
