Man Utd complete Amad Diallo transfer in potential £37million switch

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Amad Diallo Traore.

The player, who prefers to be called Amad Diallo, will join for a fee of £19million, with £18m in add-ons.

United have been tracking Atalanta winger Traore for since 2016, when he was spotted in an Under-15s match, and have now tied up a deal for the Ivory Coast youngster.

The 18-year-old prodigy has only made three appearances for Atalanta's first team, all of which came as a substitute last season.

Traore scored on his debut in the 7-1 beating of Udinese in Serie A, before appearing against Juventus and Parma in the months following.

“Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta for the future transfer of Amad Diallo, one of the most exciting young prospects in Italian football,” the club declared.

Diallo had been on the verge of joining Parma on loan for the season a few days ago.

However United have moved swiftly to tie up a deal for his signature.

But United are not able to welcome Traore into their ranks immediately due to issues with getting the youngster a work permit and an eligible passport.

It means the Ivorian will wait until January before he arrives at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Chris Smalling has completed a permanent move to Roma.

Smalling was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2010 and the centre-back went on to make 323 appearances for United, who claimed two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and a Europa League crown during his time at Old Trafford.

He spent last season on-loan with the Giallorossi.
