Man Utd predicted XI vs Fulham as NINE audition for FA Cup final starting role

Erik ten Hag's Man United side face the final home match of their season on Sunday afternoon, with the visit of Fulham to Old Trafford.

They will be hoping to hold onto third spot, with Thursday's 4-1 win against Chelsea taking United two points clear of Newcastle heading into the final weekend. The Magpies travel to face Chelsea on Sunday, with Champions League football for next season confirmed for both sides following their midweek results.

This means that ten Hag could experiment with his squad against Fulham, with a huge match on June 3rd against Man City. The Red Devils go into that match with the hope that they can win to prevent City from winning a historic treble, an achievement which would take away United's status as the only English team to achieve such a feat, having done so in 1999.

Such are the stakes for that match, key players are unlikely to be risked, with Raphael Varane potentially leading the absentees having suffered injuries this season and is unlikely to be risked. This would leave a defensive partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, with the pair auditioning for a place alongside Varane in the final.

Such has been the fixture pile-up this season, they have played 60 matches in all competitions and the volume of matches has taken its toll. Antony is believed to now be out for the cup final, with the Brazilian having suffered an injury against Chelsea on Thursday. Jack Butland could also make a first Premier League appearance of the season in place of David De Gea.

Antony was replaced by Marcus Rashford with the winger expected to be given the chance to gain match fitness ahead of the cup final. Rashford has missed matches in recent weeks through injury and illness but is now back and fit, hoping to be at his best for the final two matches of the season.

Alongside Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho is expected to play on the wing, albeit with the Manchester Evening News suggesting that Facundo Pellestri could also play a role. Meanwhile, in midfield, Fred and Scott McTominay could come in, with the likelihood being that Casemiro will be rested.

Speaking after Thursday's win against Chelsea. ten Hag emphasised the importance of a win this weekend, with the chance to break a club record for home wins in a season of 27. He said: "Of course, we prepare for that [the cup final] very well,"

"First, we have to use the game on Sunday as part of our preparation. We want to be third in the league. I think we can achieve a home record, which is another thing to play for. Also, to stay in the rhythm, stay in the focus.

"We have, in one week, a very big game against a very big team but you always have a chance in football. We proved that in January, when we beat them [City]."

Man Utd predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Butland; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Malacia; McTominay, Fred; Sancho, Weghorst, Garnacho; Rashford
