Manchester United hope to extend their impressive winning streak when they visit Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils are riding high after three victories on the bounce. A dramatic late win at Liverpool has been sandwiched in between home triumphs over Sunderland and Brighton & Hove Albion, lifting Ruben Amorim’s side out of crisis and into sixth in the Premier League table.
Amorim will be aiming to ensure United’s purple patch becomes an extended period of success, with it crucial that the Red Devils build momentum heading into the Christmas period. Fortunately for the Portuguese head coach, the reduced workload of a season without European football means the treatment room at Carrington is relatively empty.
Here is how Amorim could line his side up at the City Ground.
Man Utd Predicted Lineup vs. Nottingham Forest (3-4-2-1)
GK: Senne Lammens—Three assured performances on the bounce have been essential to United’s resurgence, with the Belgian’s calming presence having filtered throughout the rest of the squad. He will be seeking a second clean sheet on Saturday.
CB: Leny Yoro—Yoro is maturing with each passing week and will be crucial to United keeping more clean sheets moving forward. The Frenchman regularly impresses as the right-sided centre back.
CB: Matthijs de Ligt—De Ligt has faced justifiable criticism during his United career, but he’s found solace as the deepest of three centre backs this season. With extra cover either side of him, the Dutchman can afford to be more aggressive in his approach.
CB: Luke Shaw—Shaw has started all nine of United’s matches this season and has become a firm favourite as a centre back. He will be tested by Forest’s array of speedy forwards on Saturday, though.
RWB: Amad Diallo—The Ivorian is forming an impressive relationship with Bryan Mbeumo down United’s right flank, and has proven surprisingly handy from a defensive standpoint, too. Only Fernandes and Mbeumo have created more chances for United in the Premier League.
CM: Casemiro—The Brazilian has become increasingly crucial to United’s structure, with his defensive awareness vital in a two-man midfield that is often overrun without him. He even scored and assisted last weekend, too.
CM: Bruno Fernandes—Fernandes didn’t produce any goal contributions against Brighton, but United’s skipper was at the heart of everything in his new deep-lying role. He continues to lead the Red Devils for creativity and impact.
LWB: Diogo Dalot—Dalot offers balance on the left-hand side, allowing Amad to take up more advances positions on the other wing. The Portugal international will face the fleet-footed Dan Ndoye in the Midlands.
RF: Bryan Mbeumo—Mbeumo dazzled in United’s win over Brighton, scoring twice in the second half either side of Brighton’s fightback. Tenacious, creative and powerful, the recent Premier League Player of the Month nominee has everything needed to star at Old Trafford for years to come.
ST: Benjamin Šeško—The Slovenia international has scored in two of his last four outings for United and assisted Mbeumo last weekend as his relationships with his fellow forwards blossom. Nikola Milenković and Murillo are tough customers, but Šeško has the physicality to cause them issues.
