Man Utd plot to hijack Chelsea's £70m move as Aston Villa rival them for £50m winger and Tottenham boss reveals truth about Gareth Bale

Here's your round-up of all the latest transfer news and rumours from around the Premier League for Friday, January 15.

Mourinho addresses Gareth Bale speculation

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho says there have been "no discussions" about Gareth Bale's future beyond the end of the season.

Reports have suggested Spurs will not be taking up an option to extend Bale's loan for another season, with the Welshman largely struggling to make an impact in North London.

However, Mourinho insists such a decision has not even been discussed yet.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side's clash with Sheffield United, he said: "There has not been a second of discussion about that [since he arrived].

"Gareth is a player on loan until the end of the season. Not one second of discussion. We are talking about Gareth himself, Real Madrid, Tottenham.

"Of course you know he arrived injured for the first month and the Europa League group phase is a different intensity so in the Premier League didn't play a lot of minutes.

"Then an injury against Stoke where he was having a good first half. Not an easy process."

Man Utd enter Rice race

Manchester United are set to rival Chelsea for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice next summer.

According to ESPN, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views Rice as one of several potential midfield options to pursue this summer, although it's believed that Chelsea are still in the driving seat for the 22-year old's signature should he be allowed to leave West Ham, who reportedly value him at around £70m.

Whether or not Solskjaer prioritises signing a central midfielder could also depend on Paul Pogba's immediate future.

Despite his agent Mino Raiola claiming the Frenchman wants to leave the club, the 27-year old has enjoyed a rich run of form, although reports suggest fresh talks over a new contract are yet to take place.

Aston Villa set to rival Man Utd for Brooks

Aston Villa are reportedly ready to rival Manchester United for Wales forward David Brooks, but will have to spend big money if they are to prise him away from Bournemouth.

United have long been credited with an interest in Brooks, amid suggestions the Cherries have slapped a price tag of £50m on the winger.

The 23-year old, who has already admitted he would like to play in the Premier League again, has been in good form in the Championship since his return from injury, netting three goals and earning five assists in 17 appearances so far this season.

According to Talksport journalist Alex Crook, the potentially large price tag could prove a sticking point, but Brooks is a player who Villa admire.

He said: "One player [Aston Villa] are keen on is Bournemouth's David Brooks.

"I think it would take a big bid to persuade the Cherries to sell Brooks - he's a massive part of their own bid to get back into the Premier League.

"But I can see why Dean Smith would be looking at him. Villa have done really well recruiting from the EFL with the likes of [Ezri] Konsa and Ollie Watkins.

"This would be a show of ambition and proof they mean business."

Wijnaldum gives 'green light' for Barca move

Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum has reportedly given Barcelona "the green light" to sign him.

The Dutchman's contract at Anfield is up at the end of the season, and reports in Spain have claimed Barca are growing increasingly confident of bringing him on board, with a move in the winter market now being touted.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, boss Ronald Koeman "has a plan" as he looks to bring in January signings.

However, the current economic climate reportedly "does not invite optimism", with Koeman looking to bring in as many as three signings this month.
