Man Utd players 'enjoy luxury spa day' following Burnley humiliation

Manchester United's players were reportedly sent for a spa day following their defeat to Burnley on Wednesday night.

United's season hit a new low at Old Trafford as goals from Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez secured a 2-0 victory for the visitors.

The home side were booed off by a half-empty Old Trafford at the final whistle as the pressure increased on boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But the Mail reports United's players arrived at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Cheshire on Thursday morning following the defeat.

It is claimed the club booked the warm-down session before the Burnley defeat and opted against cancelling their plans.

The spa is the same retreat where Manchester City players reportedly put up 15 Instagram models after flying them in for a party earlier this month.

Michael Carrick was seen arriving with the first-team squad around 10:40am on Thursday.

He was closely followed by skipper Harry Maguire, goalkeeper David de Gea and Jesse Lingard.

United return to action against Tranmere in the FA Cup on Sunday, desperate to avoid a giant-killing.

The League One side beat Watford 2-1 in extra time with the Red Devils now heading for Prenton Park.

Boss Micky Mellon said: "They are a fantastic football club and will come here very professional. I’ve seen the other side of that when I was at Shrewsbury and they came like robots, did the job and got out of town. I know that is the threat they possess.

“We have to go out there and understand that is what will come here. They are an unbelievable football club and we are a League One club, at the bottom end of League One, but we are going to give it everything we’ve got.

"We will try to represent the club again and the players will run their socks off again and who knows?"
